Rising Rapper Pop Smoke Shot & Killed In LA Home

At the young age of 20-years-old, rapper Pop Smoke has died after a home invasion in Los Angeles. As TMZ first reported the story, the news has been confirmed by his record label Republic Records. An investigation is currently underway.
According to LAPD reports, an “unknown number of suspects in masks entered the residence and shot” a black man in Hollywood Hills around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Although the victim was transported to the hospital, he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity has yet to be officially revealed by LAPD, but the address of the shooting does match the address that Pop Smoke and associates shared to social media.
In an official statement, Republic Records said, “We are devastated by the unexpected and tragic loss of Pop Smoke.” The label continues, “Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans, as we mourn this loss together.”
Pop Smoke, whose real name was Bashar Jackson, was in the midst of taking off as an artist as his “Meet The Woo 2” mixtape hit the top of the Billboard charts yesterday. The Brooklyn rapper was also preparing to head out on the road and perform for fans on his US and UK tour.
