Running into its eighth year, Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw carnival has turned into a pretty big deal in his hometown Los Angeles. The heavy hitter line up took the stage at L.A.’s Los Angeles Dodger Stadium for the two day festival (Nov. 9-10). A few of the artists included H.E.R., 21 Savage, YG, Daniel Caesar, DaBaby, and Tyler, himself.
The carnival featured food and amusement rides that fans could enjoy with their experience. By Tyler keeping his co-headliner a secret to generate more publicity, many fans expected it to be his former Odd Future bandmate Frank Ocean due to recent music releases. The surprise headliner turned out to be three people including ASAP Rocky, Lil Uzi, and Drake.
To fans displeasure, they wanted Frank so badly that when Drake performed the crowd boo’d and shouted “We want Frank!” Performing songs like “I’m Upset” and “Mob Ties,” and even Tyler’s requests “Feel No Ways” and “Wu-Tang Forever,” fans shouted “No” when they were asked if they wanted more.
After performing nine songs Drake told the crowd, “I’m here for you tonight. If you want to keep going, I will keep going tonight. What’s up? If you want to keep going, I will keep going tonight,” only to get boo’d. Eventually, he thanked them and walked off stage. “Well, look, it’s been love. I love y’all. I go by the name of Drake. Thank you for having me,” the singer declared.
Drake has weighed in on the recent appearance with a joke in an Instagram post where he says he would now be performing at the fest for the next decade. “Plot twist…just signed a 10 year residency at Camp Flog Gnaw sorry kids see you EVERY SINGLE YEAR till you are 30,” he stated. Looks like the crowd could take Drake from the stage, but not the humor from Drake.
