Drake Earns First Diamond-Certified Single With ‘God’s Plan’

Canadian superstar and OVO founder Drake has officially earned his first diamond-certified single in the United States with ‘God’s Plan,’ a hit song which appeared on Drake’s album Scorpion moving at least 10 million equivalent units.
As we know, Drake has had plenty of platinum records in his career. However, a Diamond record has finally been achieved for one of the most successful artists today. ‘God’s Plan’ surpassed 11 million units in the United States alone, making it the artist’s first Diamond single, certified 11x platinum by the RIAA, and only the 32nd track in the country to acquire this certification.
Since the release of the Grammy nominated single back in January 2018, it has received nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, won Best Rap Song, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, broke first-day streaming records on both Spotify and Apple Music and was officially 2018’s most-streamed song on both platforms.
Now having 35 top 10 hits, Drake is trailing only Madonna, who leads with 38. A next big hit is now in the works as Drizzy has been in the studio working on a new album, which we could expect to arrive before the end of the year.
