Atlantic Records has entered into a partnership with Art@War, a label that was founded by entertainment lawyer James McMillan. According to Billboard, Art@War’s roster includes the YBN Collective — a partnership between McMillan and Rap-A-Lot Records CEO James Prince — featuring YBN Nahmir, YBN Cordae and YBN Almighty Jay.

“In his role as an attorney, James McMillan would bring us many artists super early,” says Atlantic chairman/COO Julie Greenwald. “It made perfect sense for us to partner with him and his Art@War label so we could have a more immersive relationship. We couldn’t be more excited to work with him and his team to develop this incredible roster of talent.”

Under Art@War, McMillan also co-manages Def Jam’s YK Osiris with Jas Prince. According to Billboard, McMillan has worked as an entertainment attorney for 15+ years, representing a diverse clientele that includes Rap-A-Lot, rappers Paul Wall and Mike Jones, hip-hop duo 8Ball & MJG and Machine Gun Kelly.

McMillan adds in a statement following the big news: “Julie, Craig [chairman/CEO Kallman], Mike [president of black music Kyser] and the entire Atlantic family are a winning team that isn’t afraid to push the envelope. They’ve been supportive of me throughout my career, so it was an easy decision to partner with them. I’m looking forward to signing talent from all genres — artists who can make a lasting cultural impact—and evolving into a full-service label.”
