Nipsey Hussle will be honored at this year’s 2019 BET Awards for his humanitarian efforts.

Earlier today, BET Networks made the announcement, giving the late rapper a posthumous humanitarian award during the June 23rd award show. Before his untimely death in March, Hussle earned a reputation for rebuilding underprivileged communities through teaching financial literacy, entrepreneurship, real estate, and more.

In a statement made by Connie Orlando, Executive-Vice President, Head of Programming for BET Networks, Orlando says, “We are forever grateful, humbled and honored to have experienced his presence and we are invested in doing our part to ensure that the marathon will indeed continue. It is an immense honor for us to recognize him with this year’s Humanitarian Award.”

Alongside the award presentation, the awards show will include a Nipsey Hussle tribute featuring YG, John Legend, and DJ Khaled performing their hit song, “Higher” featuring the rapper.
