Rolling Stone to Create New Music Chart System

Rolling Stone is stepping into new waters, challenging Billboard with their new music charting system. The magazine announced the plan to launch the charts on Monday, May 13.
Jay Penske, CEO of Rolling Stone’s parent company, Penske Media Corp., released a statement today in regards to the add-on, saying that the magazine’s charts will “present a transparent, granular and real-time quantification to accurately reflect listeners’ evolving interests and give insight into worldwide trends.”
To add to their newest conquests, Rolling Stone will also launch Artist 500, a system ranking the top streaming artists out. Rolling Stone Breakthrough 25 will be launched to rank breakout artists.
