With 4/20 approaching with its annual celebration of all things weed Hip-hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy is exploring the viral racially-charged history of the War on Drugs in his directorial debut, Grass Is Greener, set to premiere on Netflix on April 20th.
The visual looks at the connections between drugs and music over the years. The documentary features contributions from Snoop Dogg, Killer Mike, Damian Marley, Chuck D, DMC, and Cypress Hill among others.
An official description of the series calls Grass Is Greener an “unparalleled look at the racially biased history of the war on marijuana. Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill’s B-Real, and Damian Marley join a range of celebrities and experts who discuss the plant’s influence on music and popular culture, and the devastating impact its criminalization has had on black and Latino communities.
