The four-time winning Grammy artist Lil Wayne has been in trouble with the IRS for a period of time. In 2011, Wayne was hit with two tax liens : one for $1.13 million and another for $5.6 million. After paying those off, in 2016,  it was reported that he owed the IRS $900,000. In 2017, it was reported again that Wayne failed to pay $7,341,399.07 in 2011.

Several months ago at a performance in Chicago,  Wayne had a personal moment with the crowd. He stated that Jay-Z supported him during his financial problems. 

“There’s people like Jay Z. He helped me when I was really, really, really down. Really, really, really down,” Wayne said. “Jay don’t want me to tell nobody. That man helped me with my taxes. He’s a real friend, y’all.”
