Melli‘s HML music video officially dropped today (Feb 27), but the artist took a pause to highlight a moment in her life that inspired her project phAses.

” So HML video drops today but I want to interrupt this to share my story,” she wrote on Instagram. “As ya all know I live my truth and because ppl think I’m hiding it or don’t understand how exactly I’m trying to deal with things everyone wants to serve their karma to something that if I could reverse or even take the position I would switch places right now.”

More specifically, she went into detail about how-while under the influence-she accidentally shot and paralyzed someone, whose name she will not disclose, and has been harassed because of it. She went on to say she cared about this person and would never deliberately commit an act like that, while also promoting gun safety.

“If you are a licensed owner of a firearm, you always check to see if there is a bulled in the chamber even if the clip is out which is what happened with me…”

Melii also added that she tried to take her own life due to her accident, believing that if she took her own life then that would be her way of paying for her mistake. Apparently this accident and the harassment that followed after it is the source of Melii’s anxiety, depression, insomnia, and PTSD.
