Last year was an astonishing time for Drake as he released his fifth album, “Scorpion,” and received praise, awards and accolades based on the work produced from the album. Now, IFPI, which is an organization representing the recording industry on a worldwide scale, has officially deemed Drake 2018’s best-selling recording artist globally.

To no surprise, Drake has received this high achievement before as 2016 brought about his first time receiving the title. The IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year chart verifies the top-selling artist based on physical and digital sales of albums across the year. Alongside Ed Sheeran, Adele and Taylor Swift, Drake is the sixth recipient of the award.
