NICKI MINAJ MAKES HISTORY BY WINNING BRIT AWARD
by Staff Editor
Little Mix and Nicki Minaj’s collaboration on the Woman Like Me Video claimed the trophy for Best Artist Video of The Year on Wednesday, February 20 at the Brit Awards. Becoming the second female rap artist to win a Brit Award since Lauryn Hill’s pioneering achievement in 1997, Minaj was taken aback by the win. Continuing to make history both Little Mix and Minaj are the first girl group since 1998 to win the award.
Celebrating a couple days after the award show Minaj posted a photo of Little Mix cheering on stage with the caption “ When was someone gonna tell me? 😩 ~ thx to the @brits ~ congrats @littlemix, it was a pleasure working w|u.”
Although Nicki couldn’t attend the award ceremony Little Mix gave a stunning performance of their hit single enlisting Ms. Banks to step in for Minaj considering Minaj’s admiration of Ms. Banks new talent. In 2017, Minaj gave props to Banks via social media.
