Ariana Grande’s personal life has been in the headlines since the last few months of 2018. From her previous breakup with longtime boyfriend Mac Miller along with being accused of the reason he passed away, to her called-off engagement with “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson just weeks later.
All of this, including previous relationships with Big Sean and Ricky Alvarez, are addressed in a song she’s been teasing all week called, “Thank U, Next.” The singer abruptly dropped the single last night (Nov. 4), just 30 minutes before the new episode of “SNL” aired, showing Davidson mocking their engagement while on the air with the show’s guest, Maggie Rogers.
Despite the lingering hostility, Ariana emphasizes in the song that she is good with all of her exes and thankful for the lessons. “Thought I’d end up with Sean/But he wasn’t a match/Wrote some songs about Ricky/ Now I listen and laugh/Even almost got married/ And for Pete I’m so thankful/Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm [Miller]/Cause he was an angel..”
