Each year, the BET Hip Hop Awards recognizes distinguished legends and upcoming artists in the Hip Hop industry. This year, Lil Wayne will receive the “I Am Hip Hop” award at the the 2018 BET Hip Hop Awards next month. This announcement comes after the news of Lil Wayne’s upcoming album, Tha Carter V. Wayne’s The Dedication 6: Reloaded is also nominated for “Best Mixtape” at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards.

The Grammy-Award winning artist has been contributing his distinct talent to the hip hop genre since his days with Hot Boys. With over 21 years in the game, 2018 is set to be a big one for Lil Wayne.

Previous recipients of the “I Am Hip Hop” award includes, MC Lyte, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, and Doug E. Fresh. The BET Hip Hop Awards will take place at Florida’s The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater on October 6 with DeRay Davis as the host. The award show will air on October 16.
