Last night in Pittsburgh, a Virgil was dedicated to Mac Miller at the Blue Slide Park section of Frick Park. Thousands of fans gathered with candles and playing his music to mourn his death. Miller passed away at age 26 from a suspected overdose last Friday (September 7).

Mac’s close friends and family also attended. His grandmother, Marcia Weiss, even gave a heartfelt speech about her grandson.

“He would be so excited. He’d wish he was here, and I wish he was here,” she said. “But he loves you all , he loves Pittsburgh and everything that you have done for him.”

Fans are petitioning to have the playground area of Frick Park names after Mac, calling it the “Mac Miller Blue Slide Park.” And Brandon McCaslin, whose Nightfall Records organized the vigil, announced that he’s working with nonprofits to bring awareness to addiction and mental health.
