T.I. Signs To Epic Records, Drops 2 New Tracks With Meek Mill & Yo Gotti
by Karen
T.I. has shared not one, but two new cuts off his long-awaited album, The Dime Trap due on new label Epic after leaving his long relationship with Columbia.
One of the records is a Latin-infused ‘Jefe,’ featuring Meek Mill. The Bangladesh-produced cut uses a braggadocious Dave Chappelle-esque voice over and finds the rappers reaffirming their boss status (Its good to hear another Bangladesh production in 2018).
“The Dime Trap, I’m working on it […] It’s going to be an extension or a continuation of the vibe from Trap Muzik,” he told MovieWeb in 2015. “I feel like, when you’ve done hits like ‘Whatever You Like’ and ‘Dead and Gone,’ when you do those mainstream kind of ‘Blurred Lines’-ish kind of records, you don’t go and try to top ‘Blurred Lines.’ You just come to a whole new element, bring it back down and build the process back over again. I’m breaking it all down, back to the element of where my music first began to interest people, and build it all over again.”
Wraith features a verse from Yo Gotti and a signature mellow melody over an aggressive trap snare designed by Scott Storch. Check out the new tracks from the original trapstar and let us know what you think.
September 6th marks the 10-year anniversary of T.I.’s Paper Trail single “Swagga Like Us” featuring JAY-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and M.I.A.
