Take a break this Labor Day with our first Civil Selects R&B of September. Get into the sounds below and add our official Civil Selects: September Playlist to stay up on all the new artists we highlight.
Artist: Sylo Nozra
Track: je t’adore (ft. Ty Senoj)
Hot Take: The Toronto-based alternative R&B artist is a sensation in the making. Sylo writes, sings and produces all his own music. ‘Je T’adore’ which translates to “I like/love you” or “I’m fond of you” (depending on who you ask) has catchy melodic chords and Nozra’s distinct voice which makes him an artist to like/love for the future.
Artist: NO1-NOAH
Track: To The Women
Hot Take: With all the streaming numbers a new hit artist on the rise has to their names, NO1-NOAH has remained relatively anonymous and cryptic with his releases. Very reminiscent of The Weeknd’s musical origin, the new artist just revealed his face after a three-single surprise for his fans in correlation with his EP ‘Feeling In Color’.
Artist: Kayla Brianna
Track: Confused
Hot Take: Daughter of NBA great Kenny Smith, the singer/songwriter treks out on her own producing quality work, one song at a time. Having singles with YFN Lucci and Dreezy that have made popular rounds in her catalog, when we find ‘Confused’ Kayla, she’s stripped raw and as authentic as ever.
Artist: Jvck James
Track: Wine
Hot Take: Jvck further cements his position as one of the rising stars of UK R&B with ‘Wine’. His vocal ability is undeniable and is beautifully married with piano-driven melodies and thumping R&B drums.
