Billboard released a list of the 100 greatest music videos from the 21st century and Missy Elliot appeared on it, not once, but three times.

Coming in at No. 64 was her 2002 music video“Gossip Folks” that was directed by Dave Meyers. This is the legendary visual that is set inside of a high school and surrounded by kids dancing in unison.

According to Billboard, ” Back in a pre-social-media 2002, Elliott heard all the whispers about her recent and somewhat drastic weight loss, her sexual orientation, and more, so she channeled her frustration into an eminently dance-able track and classic video.”

Missy appears on the list again at No. 28 for “Get Ur Freak On” which was also directed by Dave Meyers in 2001. This was a more creative video and as Billboard stated, ” In ’01, Elliott wiped the competition with her Dave Meyers-shot visual..'” In this clip you’ll see that Missy had a lot of fun from swinging on chandeliers to dancing and floating in mid-air.

And finally at No. 2 was her  “Work It” video from 2002. Billboard described her music video as “a perfect distillation of her idiosyncratic vision of warped world. From upside-down dance moves on a post-apocalyptic playground to Missy swallowing a Lamborghini whole and donning a dunce cap for the deliciously goofy ‘why you act dumb?’ segment…” Videos like this is what made Missy interesting as an artist. Her imagery, uniqueness, weirdness, and just being completely out of the norm is what made her so fun to watch.

But Missy isn’t the only artist who appeared on this list more than once. Artist including Beyonce with “7/11,” “Single ladies,” “Formation” and “Telephone” collaboration with Lady Gaga. We even see Kanye West a few times along with some of the songs and music videos he collaborated on with JAY-Z, including “Otis.” Check out the full list here.
