J. Cole shocked hip-hop fans around the world when he announced he would be releasing a new album. The 33-year old emcee released his latest LP “KOD” and ended up getting a response I’m sure he wasn’t ready for. Cole’s “KOD” received such a great response that it broke a US Spotify record that was previously held by Taylor Swift. According to Chart Data, “KOD” debuted with an amazing 4.2 million Spotify streams.

Although 4.2 million streams on its opening day, the record still sits under Drake’sGod’s Plan.” Drake’s hit sits with 4.3 million streams on its opening day.

Since Friday, “KOD” has officially broke Apple Music’s streaming record in the US, with 64.5 million streams on it’s first day. According to The Verge, KOD has outmatched Drake’s “Views” by 1 million streams.

With such an amazing response to the album, “ATM” visual & securing a placement on ESPN NBA Playoffs commercials, J. Cole is looking at an interesting summer.
