Civil Scope: Kodie Shane

You started in Lil Yachty’s Sailing Team as the First Lady but how did that come about? Was it an instant connection?
Kodie Shane: Shout out to Yachty, he my boy. The moment Yachty and I met, it was an instant connection. Coach brought us together and we just clicked. We connected as real people and not just as rappers. After that, he asked me if I wanted to be the First Lady of the Sailing Team and we made it happened. Yachty put me in position and I’m thankful for that.
You’ve also gone on tour with Jhene Aiko and Willow Smith, how was that experience for you?
Kodie Shane: It was fire! I was just telling my team that going on tour with Jhene and Willow was a change for me. I was able to see a different side of it. It was on a whole different pace of chill mode.
What key lessons have you learned early on?
Kodie Shane: A key lesson that I’ve learned early on would have to be to not be loyal to the wrong people. That’s the main key but also be humble and be sweet but give them hell.
It is the first quarter of 2018 but what’s one thing that’s on your mind that needs to be executive in 2018?
Kodie Shane: Real music, fire music, and tons of real sh*t. No one cares about going viral, we’re just making music for the people and that’s it.
