It’s been a little over four months since Saweetie burst onto the scene with the rambunctious “ICY GRL.” The sexy ode to female empowerment and sexual confidence immediately went viral, using the backdrop of Khia’s “My Neck, My Back,” to push the tantalizing production to new heights.
Since then, she’s slowly released a couple of hits that have captivated people everywhere. As petite as she is, her gargantuan sense of swagger shines like a beacon of light. Now, it looks like the rising California-rapper will bring her talents to Warner Bros. Records.
Saweetie’s deal with the major label brings her own ICY imprint to Warner for a partnership with Artistry Records. Warner COO & Co-Chairman Tom Corson elaborated more on the deal, being enthusiastic about the signing. “You know you have something special when an artist immediately connects in the way Saweetie as,” he said. “Saweetie’s empowering lyrics, street-smart sensibilities, and flawless delivery have perfectly collided to make ‘ICY GRL’ a viral sensation and Saweetie an artist to champion.”
Her signing comes at an amazing time, as her debut EP is set to arrive on March 16. The new project will include production from London On Da Track, No I.D., Zaytoven, Cash Money AP and Da Internz.
