Cardi B’s Billboard success broke records and took her career from reality star to rap stardom. Her first single ‘Bodak Yellow’ made money moves, soaring up the Billboard Hot 100 charts and remained on top for three weeks, a feat not accomplished by a solo woman of hip-hop since Lauryn Hill’s ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ in 1998. Cardi B has also hit the charts with guest verses on Migos’ ‘Motorsport’ also featuring Nicki Minaj and G Easy’s ‘No Limit’ which also features A$AP Rocky.
Lil Uzi Vert credits his 2017 Billboard success to his authenticity. The Philadelphia rapper began 2017 on a high note, with a feature on Migos top hit ‘Bad and Boujee’ and carried this energy throughout the year. Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘Luv Is Rage 2’ shoulder shimmied up the Billboard charts, his very first Billboard 200 No. 1.
Other artists featured in Billboard’s annual roundup include 21 Savage, Logic, Tyler the Creator and more. Read more on the year in music here.
