LL Cool J Becomes The First Rapper To Land Kennedy Center Honor

Having a career in the entertainment world that has spanned across the 80’s, 90’s, and the current 2000’s, many have been able to witness over 30 years of LL Cool J. A man of various talents, some of the rapper’s brightest moments have been delivered through Hip Hop and Hollywood.
Still being great as we head into 2018, LL Cool J was able to add another milestone to his lengthy list of accomplishments. Receiving a Kennedy Center Honor, James Todd Smith (LL Cool J) became the first rapper to ever be a recipient. With its first award given in 1978, the Kennedy Center Honor celebrates individuals in performing arts for their significant contributions.
One that has done so much over his illustrious career, the “Around The Way Girl” hit-maker is undoubtedly deserving of such an honor. Among the magnificent company of Lionel Richie, Carmen de Lavallade, Gloria Estefan, and Norman Lear, the broadcast will air on December 26 at 9/8c on CBS. Congratulations, LL!
