The founder of Cinematic Music Group Jonny Shipes and well-respected music executive Hovain Hylton of Van Dyke Music Group have officially partnered up to launch a new management company named Left Right Management. Billboard breaks this exciting news to start the week.
In 2007, Shipes founded Cinematic Music Group and has worked with several incredible artists including Joey Bada$$ and Pro Era, whom he started, Smoke DZA, Big K.R.I.T., Cam’ron, T-Pain and many more. Hovain has also worked with several artists and major brands within the culture; he currently manages Genius’ own Rob Markman and helped launch his rap career.
Here’s what both Shipes and Hovain had to say:
“I’ve always had an admiration for Shipes being a talent scout,” Hovain said in a statement, noting that Van Dyke Music Group is released through Cinematic. “I believe in the universe and karma and energy; it seemed like the perfect synergy at the perfect time.” – Hovain Hylton
“I haven’t had anyone in years like Hovain that knows how the industry moves from the non-corporate side,” Shipes said in a statement. “I couldn’t be as successful as I want to be if I don’t touch the people Hovain touches and vice versa. It’s a really good partnership. We are two independent minds who have built everything we have without any industry insiders.” – Jonny Shipes
Based inside Shipes’ Cinematic offices in NY, expect big announcements coming from the Left Right team very soon. “We’re looking to put good young hungry managers under us to mold their talent and managing,” Shipes said. “If you’re a young executive and don’t want to get taken advantage of, come to us.”
