“The Weekend”

Lights, camera, action! I’m setting the scene for what is undisputedly 2017’s side chick anthem. Being that we, as a collective, have grown to have many ideas and views when it comes down to the “other woman,” SZA’s precise writing and magnificent delivery romanticizes the idea of it all, for both the man and woman involved. Furthermore, there are moments within “The Weekend” where you just may feel sorry for her and wish to get the leading lady out the paint. R&B to its core, this record is heavy on the left, light-hearted on the right, and complicated in the middle. Through it all, SZA’s rawness is much appreciated.
