Rolling Loud 2017

On paper, Day 3’s lineup was probably the best out of all three, which says a lot based on how amazing the first two days were.

The last day started off even earlier than the previous two days since Rolling Loud had a strict 11pm curfew from the city of Miami, versus the 12pm curfew the two days prior. Looking to go out with a bang, the chaos ensued the moment doors opened until the very moment Bayfront Park was cleared out.

Sunday introduced us to another batch of newcoming artists you may or may not be familiar with including Chaz French, Topaz Jones, Robb Bank$, Teenear, Zoey Dollaz and more. I think the best part about any music festival is the fact that when you leave, you will have likely come across a new artist that you enjoy. Rolling Loud ensured this.

Starting around 4:30 for the rest of the festival, it was basically: “Watch ___ at ___ stage and as soon as he’s done, run to ___ stage and watch ___.” And then repeat.

Coming all the way from Bompton, YG hit the Postmates stage right on time giving fans an incredible set. From “My Hitta,” to “Twist My Fingaz”, YG had the city of Miami in his palms throughout his entire set.

Rushing our way over to the Monster Stage, next up was one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend, Playboi Carti. While the A$AP affiliate doesn’t have a ton of songs out just yet, that didn’t stop him from setting the amphitheater on fire. From “Lookin,” to “WHAT” and of course “Magnolia”, Carti reminded every naysayer why he’s “next up” and why the kids absolutely adore him.

Following Carti, we trekked back over to the Postmates stage to see the man, the myth, the legend, Gucci Mane. The crowd was full of a bunch of young kids, so unfortunately the energy wasn’t all the way there for some of Guwop’s classic hits. Not me, however — I was turning up beyond belief. Right after, 21 Savage and the Slaughter Gang rolled in to Bayfront and owned the Postmates stage.

Then, things got a little tricky, and we almost didn’t get to see some major performances, including Migos and Travi$ Scott.

Migos was set to go on the Monster stage around 6:30pm. What felt like 90% of the festival was over at that stage, which has a capacity due to their being seats in the first 20+ rows. So, naturally, the excited fans were doing all they can to get as close as they can to the stage, which resulted in hosts Peter Rosenberg and Yes Julz getting on the mic to announce that the city of Miami won’t let the Migos come on this stage to perform. Julz, at the time, said that no one else would be performing on this stage, which thankfully ended up not being the case.

Instead of panicking, Rolling Loud got everything cleared up and ended up moving the Migos to the Postmates stage, where they gave the crowd an incredible performance, including bringing out Gucci Mane to do “Slippery.”

By the time Post Malone was supposed to go on stage, things got cleared up at the Monster stage and things proceeded as normal. Post set Miami ablaze following his hit-filled set, which segued right into arguably the best performance of the weekend, Travi$ Scott, who ended up bringing the Migos out to the main stage. Take that, city of Miami.

Right before Travis went on, Future closed out the Postmates stage and literally had Bayfront Park and Rolling Loud in an absolute frenzy. With so many hits – new and old – to run through, Future could’ve performed for another hour if he was allowed to.

So, when the year ends and we reflect on “Hip-Hop in 2017”, I have one guarantee: The Rolling Loud Music Festival will undeniably be considered one of the most talked about and most exciting events/moments in hip-hop this year. The entire Rolling Loud team deserves a huge congratulations on beating the odds and hosting the biggest and boldest hip-hop festival of the year thus far.
