You’ve also helped co-write so many notable songs in the Hip-Hop and R&B culture. What do you enjoy more, writing for others or for yourself?
CyHi The Prynce: Both of them have the same process for me. It’s more of the brainstorming thing that we do, and after that’s done, I narrow it down to what I want to say. And that’s the same thing when I would with Ye, we just go in and brainstorm with him. I did learn that process from him.
The G.O.O.D. Music team needs to come through with a compilation tape as well. Is that a possibility for 2017?
CyHi The Prynce: Well, we had the Cruel Summer, which was the first one and everyone’s waiting on Cruel Winter. Trav and myself has been talking about it but there’s so many super stars on the label. However, I really think the only person that can bring it together is Ye and we have a lot of songs together. Now that he’s taken a break, he’s probably itching to get back into some music so hopefully his album and that album is something that we’re doing.
Outside of music, what are some things you hope to accomplish or venture off in 2017?
CyHi The Prynce: My biggest thing right now is philanthropy. With public speaking, I really want to help the community and the younger kids. I was a trouble kid growing up so I know what it’s like to be young and wild. I want to give my testimony and I’m also getting into writing movie scripts.
Anything else you’d like to add?
CyHi The Prynce: No Dope On Sundays is here this summer, we’re looking into June. We have a new single “Moving Around” coming out with ScHoolboy Q, it drops in a week, and I have another record which you heard with Kanye West dropping soon. We’re taking over the summer!
