Perhaps the most successful female emcee ever with 70 Billboard Hot 100 entries, Nicki Minaj has proven she can play rough with the boys as well as show her feminist and sexy side. She broke that Billboard record this year and reminded folks exactly who she is and what she brings to the table. While she didn’t drop a ton of music in 2016, everything she did went crazy, including her “Black Barbies” remix. We expect her back in the top 3 in 2017.

With those words, Remy Ma has gone down in Hip-Hop history as one of the baddest female emcees to ever to touch a mic. Remy first started to shine as part of Terror Squad back in the early 2000s, and since then she’s been one of the most well known female rappers in the game. Not to mention, her smash hit “All The Way Up” with teammate Fat Joe dominated the Hip-Hop charts and radio airwaves in 2016.
After her smash hit “OOOUUU” hit the airwaves, it was a wrap. Young M.A has made her mark on the charts and in hip-hop this year thanks to the record, which cracked the top 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. With a handful of follow ups impressing us, we expect M.A. to continue to grow in 2017. All praises to the Brooklyn rapper.
Even though things started a bit rough for Kehlani in the beginning of the year, the West Coast songstress made sure to finish strong. She not only did her thing for her own singles like, Suicide Squad’s “Gangsta” and “CRZY,” but also got nominated for a Grammy with her last album You Should Be Here. Not to mention, she made her mark on features with a range of artists from Zayn Malik to A. Boogie, and more. The year 2016 was a success for Jhene Aiko in more ways than one. Her love life with Big Sean flourished, while her career continued to take off. The couple’s TWENTY88 album hit number five on the Billboard 200 chart and was met with great praise upon its release. She also got to post-up side by side with Wiz Khalifa and Snoop for their High Road Tour, making her hardwork pay off. With the 2nd part to Twenty88 on the horizon, let’s see what Ms. Aiko will have lined up this year.
