You just released your EP, Color Blind: Love with the leading single “Black Man In America” which has already gained rave reviews for its powerful meaning. Tell us a little bit more about that song and it’s meaning behind it?

October London: “Black Man In America” is very socially conscious and very political. I think a lot of people are afraid to say what I say due to endorsements but in today’s society, we to realize that we’re fighting against each other for the silliest reasons—black against white, brown against black, whatever it is. We judge each other for the stupidest stuff. You see it in the media every day. Some people don’t talk about it. Some people don’t write about it, but I wanted to.

You’re also signed to Snoop Dogg and Jazze Pha’s music label, Cadillac Music. Talk to us about that experience and what does it mean to you?

October London: It means a lot to me. I’ve been listening to Snoop since I was a kid and for him to sign me, it’s a dream come true. It’s wild and I’m still in shocked. I definitely own a lot to Snoop and Jazze. To be working for something for such long and to have it right before my eyes, it’s everything! I can’t wait to continue showing people to see what I can do.

What key lessons are you learning early on in your career?

Lately Snoop and I have been having these conversations in the studio about surviving in the industry and being the artist that I want to be first and see if the world takes on to it. So I’ve definitely grasping a lot. Even being in the studio with Jazze too. He’s taught me how to work with different variety of genres and learning how to move forward when one song doesn’t sound or do good.

With 2016 coming to an end, what’s next for October – any upcoming plans/goals for the rest of 2016 or for the new year, 2017?

October London: Yes, before the year ends I’m dropping two new singles. One single called “K.D.B” (Kisses Down Below) which will be released in Europe and Toronto first and a second single “Santa Drop Me Some Loot.” Both singles are completely different from what people are used to hearing from me  but it’s definitely much more fun holiday vibes. Also, be on the look out for my Christmas album titled Christmas In October, which will be out soon.
