Civil Interview: Ace Hood Talks ‘Starvation V,’ Personal Growth, And More
by Staff Editor

You spoke on your relationship with Ross, he’s on “Go Mode” and it’s taking off. I saw the video of Antonio Brown pulling up to it at Steelers camp. What other tracks are taking off from the tape or is that the one?
The most powerful record taking off on the tape is “Go Mode” for sure. “She loves” is another fan favorite. As far as conscious and real, real, real record, the fans love “Cold Shivers.” Only time will tell. “King Kong” is another one. But the two powerful ones that we are working at this time are “Go Mode” and “She Loves.”
You said everything you make is an output of yourself. Do you feel any pressure to match what you have done already?
Nah man I don’t. As long as I continue to grow my music will represent that. I started with an amazing project and now I work on myself every day. Challenge myself, lyrically, in every aspect of my life, physically, everything. I’m nowhere near my peak and that’s the scary thing, I’m continuing to grow, I’m going to continue to challenge myself and make sure my next project is even stronger.
You’re down in Florida, that’s your home. It’s a lot of talent coming from down there, do you have anyone you listening to or favorites?
I got my young boy Bruno Mali. He from Little Haiti out of Miami. Another dope cat, hungry, he going to be another problem, another animal. He working on a lot of different things, just dropped a record and I’m getting his record slated to drop soon. People like that, that passion, that animal, that hard shit. I signed another one and I was patient about picking artist but he’s going to be special.
You got artist you’re helping, let us know about all the moves and new stuff with Ace Hood.
Right now we working on a tour. We putting together The Starvation V tour with Ace Hood. That will be in the near future, we getting dates and stuff together. I’m back recording. But what’s important to me is getting on the road, being able to touch the fans and rocking out with them.
Jumping back in the project, what records best illustrate you as a man and artist?
It would be “Wishful Thinking” and “Goes Around Comes Around.”
Why you pick those two?
That’s the true side of me. That’s me being vulnerable. That’s just me shining as a person regardless of what people think. That’s me in my mind frame. Where I am with the meditation, the yoga, whatever it may be. That’s the true message what I want the kids and the people to get from my music. Be inspired and be motivated. Allow these experiences that I went through help you through life because some people are on the edge and this music is what helps them over that bridge, gets them through that wall. That’s probably me in its truest form.
I know you brought it back for 5, is this Starvation the last one?
I can’t tell you that, I can’t tell you that. I’m working on some things, a lot of fans ask that but I can’t tell you that.
What else you got in the chamber?
Obviously the tour and the fitness. I’m trying to do some creative things fitness wise. Things personally on my end that I’m working on. All types of things I’m working on, mentorship, things in the community, all types of things to show what I represent as a person. It’s a lot of things in the near future I’m excited about and I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. I want to allow those things to unfold before I claim them.
