NBA Stars - ESPYs

Recently Carmelo Anthony spoke out stating that he will use his influence as an athlete to assist in moving toward police brutality against black people, violence in our communities and more. Tonight (July 13) at the ESPY Awards Melo was joined by his good friends and fellow NBA Superstars Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James to open the show and promote change and encouraged other athletes to join the initiative.

“The system is broken, the problems are not new, the violence is not new, and the racial divide definitely is not new, but the urgency for change is definitely at an all-time high,” said Anthony in the opening of the four superstars.

Paul and Wade followed with similar messages echoing racial profiling and not valuing minorities lives has to stop and was closed by LeBron James who spoke in regards to properly honoring the legacy of Muhammad Ali.

“Tonight we’re honoring Muhammad Ali, the GOAT,” James shared. “But to do his legacy any justice, let’s use this moment as a call to action to all professional athletes to educate ourselves, explore these issues, speak up, use our influence and renounce all violence, and most importantly, go back to our communities, invest our time, our resources, help rebuild them, help strengthen them, help change them. We all have to do better.”
