The time has finally arrived. XXL Magazine has unleashed their highly anticipated 2016 Freshman cover.

The 10 artists to land this year’s spot are: Desiigner, Dave East, Denzel Curry, G Herbo, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Dicky, Lil Yachty, Anderson .Paak, 21 Savage and Kodak Black. “The new wave,” as XXL puts it.

Year in and year out, since 2009, XXL has highlighted 10-12 new artists that are on the cusp of super-stardom. Past Freshman cover nominees include the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Future, Chance The Rapper, Ty Dolla $ign and a ton of others, showing how on-point the publication has been.

Question is, how long will the 2016 nominees last?

Over the next several weeks, XXL will release a bunch of content surrounding the cover including cyphers, roundtable interviews and more. The Freshman issue will hit stands on Tuesday, June 28, which happens to be the same day as the annual NYC XXL Freshman Show at PlayStation Theater. The L.A. show for the Freshman Cover will be on Monday, July 25 and a few other shows will be announced at a later date.
