Despite facing a ton of obstacles, Hot 97 managed to make Summer Jam 2016 one to remember. After being forced to completely cancel the Festival Stage due to massive thunderstorms, many folks wondered if they’d still come through and deliver? And so they did.

Starting approximately at 9:30 PM EST. inside MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, the surprises started right away. First hitting the stage was Maino and Uncle Murda, who made the show quite memorable with performances of their classic hits. They even brought 2 Milly out to Milly Rock in front of everyone.

Then, it was G.O.O.D. Music, who was accompanied by their unexpected leader Kanye West, who was able to make it due to Governor’s Ball being cancelled. Alongside Pusha T, Big Sean, Travi$ Scott, 2 Chainz and the newcomer Desiigner, the crew belted out a ton of major records including their newly released “Champions” and Desiigner’s number 1 hit “Panda,” which folks were loving.

Bryson Tiller hit the stage and treated folks to an intimate performance. He also brought out Fabolous at one point, which set the NY crowd in a frenzy.

Continuing the NY flavor was one of the highly anticipated sets — Fat Joe and Remy Ma. From performing their classic hits such as “Whateva,” “Lean Back” and “What’s Luv?,” which the duo brought out Ashanti for, to their newest hit”All The Way Up,” Remy and Joe reminded us why they’re still one of the best duos to ever touch the mic. French Montana also touched the stage with them too.

The two also paid their respects to the late Big Pun when they performed “I’m Not A Player,” and “Twinz.” Despite rumors, and despite them playing the ATWU remix, no Jay Z this year.

After a long intermission due to a stupid fight that took place on the field, the A$AP Mob entered the building. Rocky and the crew performed some major hits and truly gave fans an experience they wouldn’t forget, despite all the nonsense and obstacles they dealt with.

Then, to end the festivities, the one and only DJ Khaled arrived and set the crowd in a frenzy. He brought out a ton of special guests including Rick Ross, The LOX, Busta Rhymes, OT Genasis, M.O.P., and Kent Jones. Unfortunately, folks were about to see Usher come out, but the MetLife was forced to shut the show down early. That also effected Future’s set, the headliner, who was disappointed but understanding of what happened.

All in all, this year’s Summer Jam wasn’t the best for Hot 97, but through it all, they delivered. They weathered the storm, if you will.
