Radio pioneer and media personality Angie Martinez has announced that the release of her first memoir, titled my “My Voice”, will be released in May of this year.

Known as “The Voice of New York,” Martinez will take it all the way back to her upbringing in Washington Heights to her time spent answering phones at Hot 97 as a teen for this soon-to-be must-have book.

After getting her start at Hot 97, she became one of the most well known female jocks, who not only broke records on air (with the “Battle of the Beats”), but also provided a platform for many of the big name artists today (especially Jay Z).

Also known for her intimate interviews, ranging from Tupac to Barack Obama, Angie has been a key voice when it comes to hip hop conversations and dialogue.

Ang is as much a staple in the community as anyone and it would only be right for her to give us her memoir before it’s all said and done.

Set to be released on May 17, 2016, the book is sure to give a lot of hip hop fans and up and coming entertainment journalists a lot of insight into the crazy world of hip hop media and the life of one of it’s pioneers.

You can pre-order the book, which includes a foreword from J. Cole, here.
