1. Meek Mill vs. Drake

The undeniable top moment of 2015, in regards to hip-hop, was the Meek Mill vs. Drake beef. It started with a twitter rant from Meek claiming Drake doesn’t write his own raps, to a now Grammy-nominated diss track from Drake with “Back To Back.” Meek’s career is far from finished, but Drake certainly put a dent in it this year.

Nicki Minaj

2. Nicki/Miley MTV Awards

“What’s good?!”

Remember when Nicki embarassed the hell out of Miley during the VMAs? And rightfully so? Well if you don’t remember, long story short: Miley had some choice words for Nicki during an interview prior to the VMAs, Nicki caught wind of it and upon accepting an award during the VMAs, Nicki promptly asked Miley, “What’s good?” in a scary and threatening way. Let’s just say Miley’s been quiet ever since.

3. DJ Khaled’s Snapchat

Is there anything more glorious than DJ Khaled’s snapchat? It’s hard to put into words how incredibly amusing the We The Best mogul is via his Snapchat story. From giving us major keys, to leading us on the pathway of success, DJ Khaled’s Snapchat will be a talked about moment for years to come. Hopefully.

4. Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” video

Kendrick Lamar is up for 11 Grammy nominations this year and his To Pimp A Butterfly album, as well as hit single “Alright,” are there to thank. Even better than the song, it was the video for Kendrick’s aforementioned lead single that had the whole world talking. In a year where we saw far too many unarmed black kids and men being killed by the hands of police, Kendrick’s “Alright” video served as hope for just about everyone. ‘We gon be alright.’

ASAP-Yams

5. Passing of ASAP Yams

Whenever there’s good things, there’s always bad ones. The hip-hop world lost A$AP Yams this year, though his spirit lives on through all of us. Yams passed away right before his best friend and partner A$AP Rocky put out his album At.Long.Last.A$AP, which was an ode to Yams. The amount of people Yams inspired and helped is incredible and for that, he’ll always be remembered. Rest in Peace, Yams!
