Karen-Civil-lil-wayne-hot-100 Next up was Lil Wayne, who hit the stage right on time at 6:30 P.M., after an introduction from Nessa and Funkmaster Flex of Hot 97. The entire crowd was on their feet in anticipation of one of the biggest acts of the day, excited to see what Weezy had in store. Making his grand entrance, Wayne hit the stage with a big smile as the beat to “John” went off through the speakers. With an absent Rick Ross, anyone who knew the words was screaming out his signature line, “I got a chopper in the car.” Moving into his consistent, more recent hits, including “Rich As F*ck,” “Love Me,” Wayne made sure to get his throwback joints in there as well with the smash sensation “A Millie, “Go DJ,” “Mrs. Officer,” and one of his biggest chart-toppers to this day, “Lollipop,” for the ladies. The excitement wasn’t over for dedicated fans, as Weezy also made sure he performed some of the tracks off of his popular mixtape series, Sorry 4 the Wait, and this year’s Sorry 4 The Way 2. From his remix verse on Gunplay’s “Rollin,” to his version of “Coco,” and even Nicki Minaj’s “Only,” fans were eating up each and every moment that Wayne had the mic. He even interrupted his set to acknowledge his current label situation, stating, “Before I get started, I just wanna say, I appreciate every one of you out here. I would like to thank you for standing by me for all the bullshit I’ve been going through.” Wayne made sure to give his fans the best show he could, and ended his set with the hardcore “Steady Mobbin.”
