Who do you personally think everyone should be listening to right now based on your own taste?

PR: A lot of people from Peterpalooza are definitely overlooked, like Bodega Bamz and Remy Banks. Bodega’s album was amazing, and I don’t think people really appreciated how good it was. I think people should be checking for him. I like this U.K. artist named Stormzy a lot. I still love what Pro Era is doing, and I loved the Vince Staples album. There’s a lot of people that are great.

How do you feel about the state of hip-hop in New York currently?

PR: I think it’s good. I think we’ve had a good run the last couple of years. I think things are going well right now. There are a lot of good people, and a lot of different stuff happening. I’m happy with New York hip-hop.

How do you feel about “beefs” in hip-hop today?

PR: It’s inherently a little more lame because of social media, but at the same time the stuff that happens today doesn’t seem nearly as serious as what used to happen. I think it’s great that people don’t take it as seriously as they used to, but at the same time I do think the social media thing can be kind of lame.

It’s almost harder to keep track of who hasn’t dropped an album this year than who already has. Who do you want to see drop an album next?

PR: I’m curious to know what Schoolboy Q is working on. Childish Gambino’s next project will be a big deal as well. It will be good to see where he goes. I’m interested in what Hov is going to do. We haven’t really heard anything about a Hov album.
