The song’s musical style and production by Timbaland were heavily inspired by old school Hip-Hop which included samples from Run-D.M.C’s “Peter Piper”. “Work It” was the first single from Missy Elliott’s 2002 Under Construction album and reached the number two spot on the Billboards Hot 100.
