Brittney Griner Files Annulment Papers

Have you heard of a 28 day marriage? If not, you have now!

WNBA basketball stars Glory Johnson and Brittney Griner got married, then filed for annulment almost as soon as they said, “I do.”

With the beautiful, happy looking photos of their wedding that flooded timelines in May, you never would have thought the ladies were in the midst of a downward spiral due to domestic violence.

The couple experienced an arrest before they were even wed. According to police reports, they were both hauled off in cuffs after an argument turned violent in their Arizona home. Brittney pled guilty and entered a domestic violence diversion program after investigations showed that she was the aggressor. Regardless of the altercation, they walked down the isle in holy matrimony the next month.

While Brittney and Glory tried to start a new life, the WNBA was not happy about the reports and suspended them both without pay. Several court cases later led to Glory announcing she was pregnant and putting her career on hold for her family. It’s safe to say she was beyond shocked to find out Brittney signed papers to get their marriage annulled under “fraud and duress” the next day on June 5th.

ESPN was able to release the following statement from the basketball player:

“In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake.”

Although it may have been a “mistake” the health and welfare of the baby is the most in important in the situation. We’ll just have to see how everything works out for the ladies during the season. – Breanna Davis
