Even K. Michelle has been in the game heavy for a few years, and hasn’t seen that outstanding shine she deserves. She may have had her fair share of overly outspoken moments, but her music completely washes that away, as she proves that her pen game surpasses her overly passionate tone. Many have even considered her to be a female version of R. Kelly in the 90’s. Go ahead. Take an unbiased listen to her lyrics, and tell me that she doesn’t deserve some more recognition.

The point of the matter, is that we all might understand the idea of women slaying in R&B, but their inclusion in the genre’s discussions needs to be more prominent. Men have always held us down consistently, but it’s time for the women singing their hearts out to scoot them over a bit. As three talented individuals once sang, “All the ladies who truly feel me, throw your hands up at me.” –Lindsey India
