LINDSEY INDIA: Omeeka is certainly bringing some excitement to the hip-hop game right now, but that’s simply because they are new, not the favorite.

Nicki is at the top of her game right now, but Beyonce has been at the top of everyone’s game for over a decade. Bey-Z might not be strictly hip-hop in their moves anymore, but they’re definitely the genre’s favorite couple. With little known planned on the horizon for the summer, we know there is something up both of their sleeves in the future that will dominate the Omeeka hype.

Not only are the two working hard on Jay Z’s newest investment, the music-streaming app Tidal, but they also reportedly have a joint album on the way. Are you really going to say that hip-hop would be more hype to hear a Nicki and Meek collab project than a Hov and Queen Bey one?

While Nicki and Meek might be a perfect fit for each other, especially since the Philly rapper has been wanting to snatch up Ms. Minaj for nearly 5 years, they have a long way to go before they can prove they have a real, long-lasting legacy. Yes, most might be gushing over them, but that’s only from the “on paper” perspective. The two allegedly got engaged after just 4 months of publicly dating. It’s a bit tough to keep the faith if that rock really means future marriage.

While Omeeka is interesting to watch, and adorable to hear about, there are a lot more aspects to a favorite couple then just PDA, saying cute remarks about each other in interviews, and doing a few tracks together. Once these two flaunt that ride-or-die status for each other, they’re simply just another popular hip-hop couple we will root for.
