Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake Has Lifted The City-Wide Curfew In Baltimore
by Staff Editor
The city of Baltimore has more reason to celebrate today. The city’s mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has just taken to Twitter to announce that she has lifted the city-wide curfew that she put in place this past Monday, April 27th.
The curfew was set in response to the unfortunate violence that took place in Baltimore the last couple weeks amidst the tragic death of civilian Freddie Gray, who died at the hands of police misconduct. In a following tweet, Mayor Rawlings-Blake said, “My goal has always been to not have the curfew in place a single day longer than was necessary. I believe we have reached that point today.” Hopefully this decision and this progress we’ve seen in Baltimore remains constant and that violence will cease.
Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to the Freddie Gray family and the entire city of Baltimore. Our thoughts are with you.
Effective immediately, I have rescinded my order instituting a city-wide curfew.
I want to thank the people of Baltimore for their patience.
