Rae Sremmurd took over the year 2014 and so far so good in this year. In the midst of their success and before a massive SXSW takeover, Slim Jimmy and Swae Lee chat with Complex about their come-up, meeting Mike Will Made It and more.

The duo from Tupelo, Mississippi dished on their humble beginnings as Swae Lee gave insight on almost being homeless.

“We had to stay in an abandoned house,” Lee Stated. “We ended up meeting the person who owned the abandoned, like the land, and he let us keep the lights on and stuff.”

The living situation wouldn’t last long as the duo was discovered by Mike Will where he stated, “They had so much energy.” Going on to state that he understood superstars and legends.
