Now you will be appearing on an episode of Empire, why did you decide to get involved with this series?

Estelle: I love the show! First of all, all my friends are on the show so that’s even sweeter. They sent me the script and I read it and I said ‘this looks like fun.’ We did “Conqueror” as a duet with Jus]ie [Smollet] [Jamal Lyon] and it was a wonderful moment. I got to act on set with Terrence [Howard] and Taraji [P. Henson] and Jessie. It was a great experience. That’s my favorite show right now.

If you had to choose someone to work for would you choose Cookie or Olivia Pope?

Estelle: It would probably be Cookie. I identify with Olivia Pope but I relate to Cookie. I’m definitely the fix it, don’t complain about it but there’s something about Cookie that’s like ‘this is how you physically fix it.’
