One of the best things about Grammy weekend is that the most influential people in music are all in the same place. This comes with many benefits like planned collaborations, photo ops and an infinite list of possible surprise guests at concerts.
Big Sean showed the latter to be the case last night while he headlined Yahoo! Live’s concert series at the House of Blues Sunset Strip.
The Detroit MC started off his set with his own medley of some of his latest hits, including “Paradise,” “Gangbang,” “Sanctified,” and “Mula” before debuting a new song entitled “Stay Down,” according to Miss Info.
Then things got crazy. Sean managed to bring out a long list of guests that seemed to get better and better with every new arrival. First Travi$ Scott hit the stage and brought new energy to the crowd, then Meek Mill came out to his staple “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)” and “Burn.”
Sean took the spotlight again and performed some of his older hits like “My Last” and “Beware” before bringing out Fayetteville, NC’s own J. Cole.
To bring the anticipation of the night to head, Big Sean brought out the G.O.O.D. Music general himself, Kanye West. The two each rocked a pair of Kanye’s Yeezy Boost sneakers, the latest addition to the Yeezy line-up, while giving the first live performance of “Blessings.”
Kanye then took the opportunity to say he how he feels about his ended partnership with Nike.
“I just want to talk to Portland right quick……everybody at the Nike office right quick,” said Kanye to the audience. “Hov..Hov I ain’t going to talk too long, but I got to say something. Cause I know the execs are saying ‘Nike ain’t scared of Kanye West’. ‘Should Nike be scared of Kanye West?'”
For a finale, Sean brought out even more big names to enjoy what may have been the livest place in Los Angeles at that point. Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, and Tyga hopped out from backstage to turn up to “I Don’t F*ck With You” alongside Sean, Kanye and DJ Mustard.
Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Calvin Harris and Jay Z were also spotted backstage for the show.
