Lil Bibby Releases 'Tired of Talking' Video

Stepping away from music a bit, the country is currently witnessing a lot of controversy and a lot of sadness and anger. Speak on the Eric Garner, Mike Brown and Antonio Brown cases. Do you think celebrities should be expected to speak out on these things?

Lil Bibby: Man, I’m from Chicago. I’m from a crazy part of Chicago [laughs]. Like, this shit ain’t nothing new to me. Where I’m from, the police pull they guns out on us, even though we not doing anything wrong. They pull their gun out, they’ll point it at us – they even shot at us a couple times bro. But yea, I feel like we should be speaking out about it and shit, it’s getting a little crazy.

I remember I got locked up one time – I was doing the fingerprinting and stuff – and I overheard some police talking like, ‘I can’t wait til one of these kids act up with me. Can’t wait to kill one of em’ or something like that. They’d be like, ‘I’m just gonna say that I was fighting for my life and this kid attacked me’ and he just said it like it was a joke or something. So yeah man, it’s nothing new for real. I think it is getting out of hand though, so we need to speak on it.

Since you were an upcomer not too long ago, what would be your biggest piece of advice for artists trying to get on?

LB: I’d say you gotta be humble and you gotta outwork everybody because some of these guys are in the studio all day, everyday. You gotta develop a work ethic and you can’t ever get full of yourself. Plus you know, we’re in the “hype” stage, so you gotta constantly do something new.

What was your favorite album that came out in 2014?

LB: Um, I haven’t really listened to much new stuff lately to be honest. I’ve been listening to a lot of the old stuff, like old Jay Z, [Jeezy’s] Thug Motivation 101.

Before I let you go, do you have a release date for the new EP or Free Crack 3?

LB: I’m trying to drop the EP some time in February and I’ll probably release Free Crack 3 later this year, late 2015.
