Whether you have heard the album now or not, you have heard about “Fire Squad.” The album’s sixth track brings Cole saying what everyone has been thinking, but didn’t say it. While the third verse drives home all important facts of whites infiltrating and excelling in black culture, and the current fears of the game, Iggy winning the best hip-hop Grammy, we must not overlook the verse before it. On the second, J.Cole boasts on his earlier claim of being the greatest. What makes him have the juice? A mixture of Ice T and Cube, Uncle Luke and the 2 Live Crew, Spike Lee, Batman, Lil Wayne, Kevin Durant, Bruce Lee. A lot of greats in one hip-hop body, y’all not ready.
