A hip-hop artist having a platinum-selling album

Even though having a platinum-selling album shouldn’t be a determining factor as to whether or not 2014 was a good year for hip-hop, it is worth talking about. As hip-hop fans, we’re used to seeing at least one artist go platinum each year, even if it takes a 1,000,000 copy pre-sale to Samsung (we’re looking at you, Mr. Carter). While there aren’t many albums left to drop this year, we’re still wishing to see someone go platinum before 2014 comes to an end.
