Let’s be clear: Drake vs. Jay Z is and was never a beef, but more so a friendly competition. It started back in 2011 when Drake was accused of taking a jab at Jay Z in “I’m On One,” but later dispelled that rumor via a tweet. More recently, Drake told Rolling Stone that he felt like Jay couldn’t rap these days without adding an art reference, which led to Jay rapping “Sorry Mrs. Drizzy for so much art talk, silly me rapping bout shit that I really bought” in his remix over “We Made It.” Drake caught up with Rolling Stone again during a playoff series between the Brooklyn Nets and the Toronto Raptors where Drake told RS that “Jay Z was somewhere eating a fondue plate.” But, Hov had the last laugh on DJ Khaled’s “They Don’t Love You No More” and since then, it’s been awfully quiet.
