How did your situation with VMG come about?

QuESt: VMG was just always around at the time. I knew Logic and his manager. We did a few shows together. They were always good people. When Chris came to me, it just seemed like a natural thing to do. It was an organic progression.

What’s your take on the industry right now?

QuESt: The industry is in a weird place right now, not in a bad way though. I think we’re just evolving and learning to be more aware of where we are as a culture. There’s a growth/generation shift that’s been happening for a few years. [It’s almost like] we just bought a new house, we moved our old furniture in, but it’s not fitting with the scenery entirely. We’re buying new furniture, some is fitting and some is not. We’re in a new era, and now its just a matter off us getting settled in and finding our prime for years to come.

Who are you listening to these days?

QuESt: Nas, Jay-Z, Common, Kanye, Drake Kendrick and Gambino are always in rotation. Currently, I’m listening to a few people: Chaz French, Goldlink, this dude named Noah Caine. Mick Jenkins has an ill tape that just dropped called “The Waters” that’s pretty dope too.

What can we expect from here on out?

QuESt: I just recently found inspiration for my new album. I already know the vision for it. I know whats about to happen and what it’s going to take to get there. I’m just praying God aligns the stars for me. Definitely expect more music, a short film, merchandise, and also a lot of shows in the near future.
