Remy Ma

Terror Squad’s leading lady snagged the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts for her verse on the infamous club track “Lean Back.” Not to mention, her accolades include her debut album, There’s Something About Remy, peaking on the Billboard Top Rap Album chart at No. 2, garnering two Vibe awards, two Source awards, an ASCAP pop award and a BET award for “Best Female Hip Hop.”

There is a reason Papoose’s wifey has remained relevant in 2014. Her standout 2006 singles “Conceited” and “Whuteva” are still spun in the club. Her connection to the reigning femcee Nicki Minaj has kept her name fluttering whether the press is good or bad. Her rap ability has never waned; in a video from prison back in 2010, we still see the essence of what caught Pun’s eye to take this lady lyricist under his wing with a six-minute long freestyle. She is a fighter and the current state of women in hip-hop could use her aggressive rhymes to snap back at the thoughts that ladies can’t compete.

With hip-hop returning to days of battle rap, there’s no other mainstream female rhymer who is known for spitting off the top of the dome and killing the competition, cementing Remy Ma’s stake in the industry and setting her apart from the masses.

We’ll be sure to have our full dose of Remy Ma in her upcoming reality TV series that will include footage of her very first days readjusting to life outside of the pen. Welcome home Remy, you’ve been missed.

Does any female rapper like being called a “femcee”?
